"My name is Arbess and I'm here to Mess." And mess she will, because this is a woman of extraordinary power. Her power is her music. She is a singer of the blues. She is a big, beutiful black woman and her name is Arbess Williams - Sacramento's Queen of the Blues. Her shows are breathing bedlams of soulful emotion and infectious energy. She struts on stage like some bejeweled queen and cheerfully announces, "Ok y'all, we gonna talk some shit and shake some booty." \nArbess is gritty, frequently nasty, and all the time fun. "I like to be spontaneous on stage. Give me a band with a good bottom and good depth and just watch me do my shit." Her music often drips with lust and she guiltlessly plays this with her audience, as in The Back Door Man. Arbess began singing professionally about 30 years ago. She grew up in San Diego swapping melodies with such heavyweights as Sam & Dave, Sam Cooke, and Aretha Franklin. She first recorded at the young age of 15 with a song she wrote Broken Hearted Girl. She moved to Sacramento in the mid 80's and started a career as a barber. So, is she a singing barber? "No. I never sing while cuttin' and shavin'. But I do sing in the car. People think I'm crazy - bellowing with the windows down." So here's Arbess Williams. She's ready, She's primed. Get ready for some high-spirited, soulful, no-holds-barred blues from Sacramento's Queen of the Blues.
