Roots of Rhythm Memphis Soul
Memphis Soul - Mention the word 'soul,' and one of 6the first placesthat comes to mind is Memphis. Historically a musical melting pot, by 1900 the town's famousBeale Streethad already becomean entertainment center lined with music halls, featuring jazz, blues, and minstrel shows. By the 1950's Memphis was producing famous locals like B.B.King, who sings the original version of his classic "Every day I Have The Blues" in this volume. From there,Memphis went on to become a major center of the 60's soul, introducing such greats as Rufus Thomas ("Walking The Dog") and Sam & Dave ("You Don't Kown Like I Know"). Legendary Stax Records is now gone, and Sun Studios is merely a museum, but the music, of course, is immortal. Just as important, it's a heck of a lot of fun to listen to.
This blues cd contains 14 tracks and runs 42min 22sec.
