Dolly Parton
The World of Dolly Parton, Vol. 2 (1967)
The World of Dolly Parton, Vol. 2\n1988 CBS Records, Inc.\n\n2LP Originally Released 1967\nCD Edition Released 1988 and July 1, 1991\n\nAMG EXPERT REVIEW: The World of Dolly Parton, Vol. 2 contains the remaining 12 songs from her days at Monument Records, including "Daddy Won't Be Home Anymore," "This Boy Has Been Hurt," "I'm Not Worth the Tears," and "I'm Not Worth the Tears." Though they didn't storm the charts like her RCA material, Parton's Monument recordings are among her rootsiest and hardest country recordings and should be heard by any of her fans. -- Thom Owens\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nDolly the hillbilly singer part 2, October 16, 2004\nReviewer: P D Harris "Pete the music and horse racing fan" (Leicester England)\nDolly officially began her recording career on Monument - she made recordings before that but they are mainly of curiosity value. Dolly was still maturing as a singer during her time on Monument but I love these recordings as they have little in common with her later music (even her early RCA music). Dolly's natural voice contains a lot of vibrato that she gradually eliminated over many years. On these recordings, you hear Dolly sounding exactly as she was meant to sound - pure hillbilly. \n\nThis album is a straight re-issue of the original album "As long as I love" - which was not released until Dolly was three years into her RCA contract - so yielded no hits. Nevertheless, it includes Why why why (covered by Tracy Nelson on her album, Country) and I wound easy (covered by Tammy Wynette) while the title track was covered by Dottie West. Some of these covers actually appeared before Dolly's recordings were publicly available. There are many other great songs here including I don't want you around me anymore, This boy has been hurt and Daddy won't be home anymore. \n\nIf you enjoy hillbilly music, you'll love this.\n\nAMAZON.COM CUSTOMER REVIEW\nThis CD contains the early album "As long as I Love", December 26, 2003\nReviewer: W. Schofield (Philadelphia, PA USA)\n"As long as I Love" was recorded for the Monument label very early in Dolly's career. This is the only available CD version of it that I have found. It is a great album. Check out volume 1 of this series too, as that contains the 1967 Monument album "Hello, I'm Dolly."\n\n
This country cd contains 12 tracks and runs 30min 13sec.
