Grey Larsen: Wooden flute, whistles, anglo cocertena, fiddle, harmonium,\nfield organ, piano.\n\nAndre Marchand: Guitar, feet, vocals\n\nNotes by Pete Sutherland: (any typos are entirely my own - not Pete's)\n\nI think I've always taken it for granted that Grey & Andre would come together in \nthis way, to explore each other's music, see how it would dovetail, to want the rest \nof us to share their excitement over it.\n\nHaving had the good luck to have been party or partner to their past musical \nendeavors, I must make a bolder claim - I think I knew at least as well as they \ndid what this album would sound like. I could hear Andre's utterly natural singing \nalong with that big guitar's rolling rhythm, the chords like waves simultaneously \nhitting the beaches of Ireland and North America.\n\nI heard the musically well-travelled Grey's sprightly concertina and haunting flute \ndonning their pioneer hats again, probing between the borders of Indiana and \nQuebec, and of further countries real and imagined. I could hear the new pieces \nthese friends of mine would be concocting, the flying and floating melodies, the \ncharacterstically rich, dark and exotic harmonies, the fusion of traditions. Of course \nunderneath it all I could hear Andre's relentless footwork, the envy of drummers \nand drum machines on at least two continents.\n\nGrey & Andre, I'm sure you'll get a lot of fan letters. Consider this your first, and \nmay I say a partuclar thanks for working so hard to do justice to this music of \nyours I've been hearing in my head for quite some time. YEAR: 1993 ID3G: 88
