Ceol Mhor: Drop By Drop CD Track Listing
Ceol Mhor
Drop By Drop (2004)
We are a Cincinnati band which plays mainly traditional Celtic music. Rather than become just another Irish band, we decided, early on, to vary our repertoire and differentiate ourselves from other bands in the area. We have a lot of talent and enthusiasm and this shows through in our performances. We play reels, jigs, hornpipes, polkas and airs and even add vocals to the mix. Not all of our songs are sung in English - some are sung in Welsh. \n\nOn the hammered dulcimer, we have Patti Walker. She has the dexterity to play in a number of different styles. Sometimes it is a strong driving rhythm, and at others it can be slow and mystical. Patti has a penchant for Breton tunes and these she performs exquisitely. She also composes her own tunes and in these, the Breton influence rings through. \n\nBill Williams is our virtuoso multi-faceted fiddle player. Of Welsh ancestry, Bill always provides unpredictability to our performances. We never know which instrument he'll play next - be it the fiddle, banjo, bouzouki, bodhran or spoons ! "Long live spontaneity !" seems to be his motto. Bill also uses his beautiful tenor voice to add the vocals department. \n\nDavid (Dafydd) Jones is a Welshman by birth. He plays the English concertina, mandolin and bodhran. Dafydd also lends his voice to the vocals department and his speciality is singing in the Welsh language. \n
