Sarwar Hussain\n\nSarwar Hussain, born in Bhopal 1981, is one of the most accomplished and promising musicisans of younger generation of sarangi players in northern India. His musical heritage comes from a long line of distinguished sarangi players from Gohad, near Gwalior, in Madhya Pradesh. Sarwar hussain's ancestry can be traced back six generation to Fazal Khan, the father of Ghasi Khan, famous for his mastery of the intricate tappa style. Ghasi Khan taught his sons whoincluded Chhuttu Khan and Huday Khan. Sarwar Hussain's father is a well known ghazal singer.\n\nThe superb taleem which he has received from Abdul Latif Khan, Every morning and evenings for 7yrs, is clearly reflected in his thoughtful and virtuosity playing style. His sarangi playing displays an uncanny maturity of both technique and feeling, remarkable for a boy of his age. His playing embodies the intricate delicacy of his grandfather's style, as from two of the most famous sarangi players of the first half of his century, Ustad Bade Ghulam Sabir and Ustad Bundu Khan. Sarwar Hussain has performed , both solo sarangi and jugalbandi with Abdul Latif Khan.\n\nHe has also been awarded the title "Surmani" at Kal Ke Kalaakar in 1997. He has also received the Lakshmi Bala Smriti Saman ( Bhopal '93 ). The raag must belong to a thaat\n2. It must be melodic in nature.\n3. It comprises of a minimum five notes.\n4. A raag must have Aaroh as well as Avaroh\n5. Each raag has the note Sa present in it.\n6. Each raag has either Ma and/or Pa. Both these notes together can not be absent from a raag.\n7. Two forms of the same note such as Shuddha Ga and Komal Ga cannot follow each other in succession.(But there are exceptions to this rule. For example Raag Lalit takes Shuddha Ma and Teevra Ma one after the other.
