  1. Nigel Gavin - Noteworthy (prelude) (01:28)
The prelude to Noteworthy Praise, a tune which was first released on the Nairobi Trio's "Shelf Life", dedicated to Abdullah Dougan, a Kiwi Sufi Gnostic whom I first met and studied with in New Zealand in 1982.
  2. Nigel Gavin - Lucid (06:11)
This tune was originally written for a quartet and was to marry a hip hop beat with a 6/8 swing feel. After some refining, it managed to make its way into the solo guitar repertoire.
  3. Nigel Gavin - Nebuchadnezzar (03:58)
Nebuchadnezzar was a biblical figure from Babylon and was quite a fascist in his day.
  4. Nigel Gavin - Waiting For Seniah (06:53)
I composed this tune at home while waiting for the guitarist Joel Haines to arrive for a bit of a jam. Unfortunately, the jam never happened, but this piece came out all the same. Seniah Leoj is the title of Joe's first solo album.
  5. Nigel Gavin - A Touch Too Soon (02:28)
  6. Nigel Gavin - The Mosquito (02:11)
An experience most people know all too well. That one darned mozzy dancing around the ceiling.
  7. Nigel Gavin - Kin Ship (06:51)
This is where the whole album began. At the North Sea Jazz Festival, while touring Europe with the Jews Brothers Band, the idea of writing and recording a solo guitar album finally made its presence felt. My first challenge was to increase the technique r
  8. Nigel Gavin - Serious Enquiries Only (02:40)
  9. Nigel Gavin - A Connecticut Yankee In The Court Of King Arthur (02:33)
A solo version of my most recorded composition. It's in the Kiwi Real Book. Inspired by Mark Twain's book of the same name. The tune begins with a knight in rusted armour.
  10. Nigel Gavin - On My Fathers Side Show (04:00)
At one time, I found myself workign in J.P. Brookers "Early American" circus in California. There's a little side show music mixed with the Celtic feel on this tune. My father's family tree leads back to County Cork in Southern Ireland.
  11. Nigel Gavin - Yezidi Circle (03:48)
The Yezidi Circle is described best in G.I. Gurdjieff's book Meetings With Remarkable Men. If a circle is drawn on the ground around a member of the Yezidi tribe, the person can't, for all his or her might, get out of there. If forcibly removed, they loos
  12. Nigel Gavin - This Lineage (01:36)
  13. Nigel Gavin - Flossy (06:36)
"Flossy" was the childhood nickname of Lin Lorkin, the New Zealand chanteuse and songwriter. The sentiment of this piece reminded me of some of Linn's songs.
  14. Nigel Gavin - Sackcloth And Ashes (02:50)
  15. Nigel Gavin - Thumper (06:01)
The sound of a rabbit kicking his hind legs on the bass strings of the guitar. Also inspired by the politics of 'might makes right'.
