Midnight Oil\n\nMercury Lounge, New York\n\nDecember 5,6 and 7, 1997\n\n\nIn December 1997 the Oils played three nights at New York's\nMercury Theatre. Each night was captured by the same taper\nin the audience, and I have to say these are the best, \nclearest audience recordings I have ever heard.\n\nThey are also fantastic shows. I don't know the venue, \nbut it sounds pretty small and intimate, with both band \nand audience having a great time.\n\nA lot of the songs that would later become "Redneck\nWonderland" are played over the three nights. Most of\nthem had new names by the time they were recorded, and \nsome also changed quite a bit.\n\nI have some CD covers that I made years ago on here as\nwell. The three shows are spread across four discs - refer\nto the CD covers to see where to split things. \n\nThere is a fair bit of variation in the setlists from \nnight to night. Highlights include "You May Not Be \nReleased", an outtake/leftover from the Diesel and Dust\nalbum later used as a B-side for Blue Sky Mining. Each \nnight closes with "Know Your Product" by the legendary\nAussie punk band The Saints.
