A musical interpretation of the 100-chapter novel "Hsi-yu Chi" ("A Journey to the West", first published 1592) which describes popular Chinese folk myths about the introduction of Buddhism into China. These mythsare examples of a syncretism of traditional Chinese Taoist, Confucian, and shamanistic beliefs. \n\nThe tracks on the CD do not correspond directly to the rough track listing included with the liner notes. Rather, the track listings in the liner notes correspond to different points in the story.
